The Great Animal is the main antagonist and a hybrid animal of The Swan Princess.
He is Rothbart's animal form. Rothbart transforms into this form twice in the film, once in the beginning, and in the climax. The Great Animal himself is a hybrid with the head of a wolf, the body of a bat, the deadly talons of an eagle and the tail of a lizard.
Role in the film[]
When Odette and King William leave Queen Uberta's castle, Rothbart appears and shape-shifts into the Great Animal with the power of the Forbidden Arts. He kidnaps Odette and fatally injures and kills William. The Great Animal does not appear again until near the end of the film when the furious Derek confronts Rothbart, ordering him to revive Odette.
Rothbart transforms into the Great Animal. A battle with Puffin, Speed, & Jean-Bob watching ensues with Rothbart overpowering Derek and nearly killing him. The trio return Derek's longbow to him, and Bromley, who has escaped Rothbart's dungeon, provides Derek with a single arrow. Derek catches and fires the arrow into Rothbart's heart, killing him.
